If the "Mars" mission is real, I expect it will benefit from industrial manufacturing capability and shipbuilding in high orbit. It's going to take alot of resources and right now Musk has a about a 4-year political / economic runway to create enough pie-frontier to satisfy the various players.

After reading this, I was reminded of the new feature on ios18 iPhone that allows iMessage via satellite whenever I’m outside cellular range.
